| The company UK's leader in Transport Destination Equipment and Real-Time Information Systems continues developing its international service and product offering. Originally the company manufactured wooden named destination panels, then traditional dot-matrix products, with integrated software information management systems. The company decided to manufacture and launch a new LED based technology on the UK market at the end of 2001.The LED products increase the destination equipment performance in terms of brightness, product life, wide viewing angles and high volumes. The products and services The new “Light-Tech” products and accompanying information management services proved much faster, flexible and clearer to read than the old dot-matrix format, and because there are no moving parts, reliability was increased providing a 10 year warranty to the end-users. The new software ensured that took only a few seconds to modify the destinations and manage the information. Furthermore, both the hardware and software can be customized to virtually any end-user configuration. The investment was made to adapt the information systems for the French market using a new WinScreen 3 (MS based software). The objectives
The board of directors of the company had long viewed the French market as an opportunity. IBT Partners was contacted to conduct “an assessment of the French market to determine the potential for their Transport Destination Equipment”. IBT services IBT Partners client managers, worked closely with the client on the project brief. The focus and priorities were agreed and the research started. The French market for such transport destination management systems was analysed. All the major public transport utilities were contacted as were the largest users and implementers of such systems. A competitor product and pricing matrix was completed. Questionnaires and meetings were conducted to ensure that the information was correct and substantiated. These processes took some four months to complete.
