Paris always was and is indeed today, a technological centre - it is a question of putting the elements together and communicating about them. Historically speaking, Paris has always been one of the great innovative capitals of the world. And today we are working on a number of programmes to make sure the dynamic potential becomes reality.
Will Paris, as a centre of technology, be able to unite both commercial and research interests?
Exactly - that is our objective. We want to cluster together the differing interests including the vast intellectual property of the research institutes, laboratories and universities for which Paris is famous, with the excellent innovative small and medium sized companies that are developing here as well as the large industrial groupings that are, of course, also present.
Does all of this innovation have a cost?
There is a cost, but I would call it an investment. It is a source of creativity and hence the future economic dynamism and development for both Paris and France.
And what of that supposed relative advance that our fellow Europeans, have compared to us?
Looking at development models there are some exemplary examples. But the point is to look at our own assets, especially our research institutes and our young companies and we see enormous amounts of imaginations, potential and creativity which is waiting to be developed. Have a look at our own clusters, at the incubators and the companies and you see great dynamism, excellence and ambition for our own companies and for France.
